Onion Bhaji

This is a very popular street snack in India and is very delicious. Simple and easy to make. A perfect tea time snack. Everyday tea time snack is a thought process for me, as my son gets back from school by that time.These little easy and simple snacks makes him really happy and to give him a perfect company, my daughter joins him….lol…

Serves – 2-3

Ingredients

Big Onions  –  2 1/2 cups cut in long strips

Gram Flour  – 2 cups

Rice Flour  – 1/4 cup

Red Chilly powder  – 1 tbsp

Salt – 1/2 tsp

Turmeric – 1/4 tsp

Asafoetida – a pinch

Water

Oil for frying.

Method

. Cut the onion into long strips , sprinkle with little salt and keep aside.

. Mix all the other ingredients along with water to make a smooth batter. ( Remember not to make it too watery ).

. Mix the onions into the batter.

. Pour a spoon full of the onion batter into hot oil.

. Deep Fry them till crispy and serve hot with either tomato sauce or any chutney of your choice.
