If you desperately want something, does any obstacle stop you from achieving it ????? Well not with me !!! and that is how this dish came out. I was actually wanting to have some grilled chicken for some time and recently even my son asked me why not we have some grilled chicken. So then I thought, fine why not go ahead. So I started the preparations for it. Bought the chicken, checked with the ingredients and I was all happy to get a wonderfully grilled chicken.
As my husband always says” Too much expectation reduces Joy” the same happened. I was all excited and ready to go with the grilling, my my oven turned down on me. The coils gave up and when checked, nothing could be done and it was risky to on the oven again as it may transmit electricity. So that idea flopped. So next I thought, fine, I would do it with the help of the microwave and lo !!!!! the power fails. When checked with the electricity office, they said due to some major works, it is going to take some time before the power supply gets back !!!!! Could you imagine what I was going through……Looking at those marinated chicken, I thought for a while, and I finally decided that I would not give up.
Finally the old way of cooking, I grilled them on my cooking pan. And believe me it was as tasty as grilling the other way round!! We all had those lovely grilled chicken to our fill and my cravings were also satisfied. So I guess, there is always a way out, even when stuck up with the most odd situations. When all the cooking was done, the power also came !!!! Very funny right. Anyway we had a lovely dinner, against all odds.
So next time you desperately want to cook something, go ahead with all the imaginative ideas you have, definitely a new dish would be on the way.
500 gms Chicken
1 cup curd
1 cup finely chopped coriander leaves
1/4 cup finely chopped mint leaves ( optional)
1 tbsp black pepper powder
3-4 finely chopped green chilies
1 tsp lime juice
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp oil
Salt to taste
. Clean the chicken thoroughly and put them in a clean vessel.
. Mix all the other ingredients and marinate the chicken in this mix and keep it aside for 1-2 hours.
. In a hot non-stick pan, add about 1 tbsp butter and 1 tbsp oil.
. To this hot oil, butter mix, place the chicken pieces one by one.
. On low to medium heat, keep flipping the chicken occasionally till all sides are cooked and browned.
. Once the chicken is cooked, place them on kitchen towels for the excess oil if any to be drained.
. Serve hot along with rice, Indian Breads, or along with any dips or sauces.
Tips : Keeping the chicken marinated at least for 2 hours would increase the taste.
.Since I did not want to waste the gravy formed in the pan, I made a sauce by just sauting onions with coriander powder and all spices powder ( 1 tsp each) to the same pan. It was truly wonderful. The aroma that fills your kitchen during the entire process is just great and tempting !!!!!
