Kheema is a favorite item in our house. Whether it is chicken, mutton or beef, kheema just vanishes from the plates, the moment it is served. Kheema is easy to make and it could be prepared well in advance and stored for further use. Kheema basically refers to minced meat.
Whenever, there is lack of time, kheema is the best things that I could come up with. A perfect choice for sandwich fillings, rolls or just as a side dish with rice, in anyway, it just perfectly blends with what it is laid with. Apart from these , there are so many other dishes that you could prepare with kheema. This time I had store bought chicken kheema with me and I went with this recipe. It was a perfect sandwich filling, for my family and we all loved it.
Servings – 3-4
Chicken Kheema – 400 gms
Green Peas ( Muttor) – 1/4 cup
Onions finely chopped – 2 cups
Ginger finely chopped – 2 tsp
Garlic finely chopped – 2 tsp
Tomatoes finely chopped – 1 cup
Red Bell Pepper finely chopped – 1/2 cup
Yellow Bell Pepper finely chopped – 1/2 cup
Tomato Sauce – 2-3 tbsp
Soya Sauce – 1 tbsp
All spices powder – 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
Chilly Powder – 1 tbsp
Black pepper powder – 3/4 tbsp
Coriander powder – 2 tbsp
Coriander leaves finely chopped – 2 cups
Salt to taste.

. Was and clean the kheema and keep it for aside for the water to drain out.
. In a hot pan, add some oil. When hot, add in the onions, ginger, garlic and the peas and saute well. Cover with the lid for a few minutes so the peas get soft and tender.
. When onion get translucent, add in the peppers and stir well. When they get soft, add in all the dry powders and mix well.
. When the raw smell gets away, add in the tomatoes and mix well. When tomatoes get tender, add in the tomato and soya sauce and mix well.
. When the mix gets well blended, add in the chicken kheema and give a good mix. Add salt to this.
. Add water to this little by little, just sufficient for the blending and some coriander leaves and mix well.
. Keep on medium flame and still occasionally till all the water content gets evaporated.
.Turn off flame once all the water content is evaporated , garnish with some coriander leaves and serve hot along any dish of your choice.
We had it as our sandwich filling along with some cheese spread. It was great.
